How To Clean Dried Poop Off Floor

Try putting a damp rag or paper towel over the smear to rehydrate it and then you should be able to clean it up. Don't let it sit too long on the wood surface, especially if it is a laminate.

Lay a warm wet towel over it for several minutes to get it to soften up, then you can clean it.

A warm dampened rag cloth or paper towels on top of the poop just long enough to loosen it. It should come up after a few minutes. Wipe clean with a moistened rag. Remember to not saturate the area, it could make a bigger problem for you by penetrating the surface of the floor.

Hi Markie: Ah geeze:( Those dogs are so gross sometimes:) Anyway, get some paper towels - I like Viva - wet with warm water and Dawn dish soap and vinegar. Not soaking wet, just a bit more than damp. Put this over the poop and let it sit for about 5 or 10 minutes. Then, wipe up what you can and, if you need to, do it again. Then wipe the area dry and let it dry for about 1/2 hour and then wax the area. Good luck

Hi Markie,

Scrape it off with a plastic scraper. If the poop is somewhat clumpy (not diarrhea), it will be easiest to simply scrape it off the surface. However, use caution to prevent scratching the floor.¹
If the poop is more like diarrhea and has dried very flat, it may be easier to dissolve it. Fold a paper towel into quarters, soak the paper towel and wring it out slightly so that it is still wet but not dripping. Place the folded paper towel over the poop and let it stay there for about 30 minutes. Once the poop has softened, you can then scrape it off or scrub it off the surface more easily. Do not leave the wet paper towel down too long or it could cause water damage on some types of floors.
If plain water is not working to soften the poop, use an enzyme digester that is safe for the surface, such as Nature's Miracle Hard Floor Cleaner.
