This is the time to achieve that glowing and youthful skin you always dreamt of! So, here is a 21-day plan that will give your skin a complete makeover. No chemical packed or expensive products, just some expert advice, desi nuskhe, and easy DIYs. Here is your 21-day plan for glowing skin!
Day 1 - Let Your Skin Breathe, Understand Your Skin Type
Let your skin breathe! Skincare expert Aashmeen Munjaal suggests that your skin needs some fresh air and sunlight. Now that we can't step out of our houses due to the lockdown, we must take out some time for our skin wherein it can soak in some fresh air.
Also, use this first day to understand your skin type. Is it too oily or too dry? How do you get to know? Here is your guide:
Normal Skin
- Skin pores aren't visible or less visible
- Not very sensitive
- Not too oily or not too dry
- Not very sensitive to skincare products
Combination Skin
- Oily at the T Zone - nose, forehead, and chin
- Skin is both dry and normal at times
- Large or bigger pores than normal skin
- Blackheads
Dry Skin
- Pores aren't visible
- Red patches
- Skin feels dry and looks dull
- Ageing signs like fine lines, wrinkles are visible
Oily Skin
- Open pores
- The face shines due to excess oil
- Blackheads, acne breakout
Sensitive Skin
- Redness
- Itching
- Dryness
- No skin product should be used on this skin type unless it is purely for sensitive skin
Day 2 - Develop A Habit To Drink More Water
Dryness, acne, redness, ageing signs, your skin has its own way of telling you that you aren't paying enough attention. One thing that is important and will help you deal with most of your skin issues is hydration. Drinking enough water is important for your skin. Every time I ask a celebrity for their beauty secret they say they keep themselves hydrated all through the day. Now you know the secret of their spotless skin? To achieve that glowing skin, you need to drink a lot of water.
Water helps you improve blood flow in your skin. It gives your skin that natural glow you wish for. Water has essential vitamins and minerals which renew your skin cell. When your skin cells are healthy, your skin starts to glow from within and it looks naturally bright. You should be drinking a glass of water every 45 minutes.
If you don't like the taste of plain water, add flavour to your water by adding fruits, cucumber, mint or lemon to it.
Day 3 - Start A Skin Cleansing Routine
Even when you are inside your house, when you sleep, your skin excretes oil. This oil needs to be cleaned when you wake up or it can make your skin look dull. Following the basic CTM (Cleansing, Toning, and Moisturising) routine can help. It is best to stick to natural cleansers that don't damage your skin. If you don't have any then here is how you can follow the skin cleansing routine:
Cleansing With Malai Or Milk Cream
Milk cream works a natural cleanser, it is that thick, yellow sheet that forms on your milk. Apply it all over your face and neck and let it dry. Scrub it off.
Toning With Rose Water
Rose water is a great toner for your skin. Take a cotton ball and apply it all over your face and neck. Don't wash it off, let it soak in!
Moisturise With Aloe Vera
Scrape out some aloe vera from the plant and apply it all over your face. Aloe vera has moisturising properties that keep your skin soft and smooth.
Day 4- Switch To Natural Foods
Skincare expert Aashmeen Munjaal shared that your skin is the reflection of what you eat and this is why you should consume foods that are natural and not processed. Consumption of processed or unhealthy foods like sweets, junk food, coffee can harm your skin.
Change your diet routine and start consuming more fruits, veggies, and healthy drinks, soups that give your skin a natural glow.
Day 5 - Yoga For Natural Glow
To make your skin glow naturally, you can try some Yoga. Yoga helps you get that natural glow from within. There are 2 Yoga asanas that are known to be great for your skin.
Halasana Or Plough Pose
This asana helps in increasing the blood flow on your face and makes it glow.
Sarvangasana Or Shoulderstand
This asana leads to blood flow in your head which makes your skin glow and also helps in treating skin problems.
You can do these 2 asanas everyday or 3 days a week to enjoy the benefits.
